SMU Patron’s Day 2024 saw the annual celebrations given a major boost as crowds of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of SMU came together on SMU’s Campus Green to celebrate the University’s 24th anniversary.

The focus, in line with the University’s Vision 2025, was on environmental protection and sustainable development. President Tharman Shanmugaratnam graced the event, on his first visit as SMU’s Patron. He attended with his spouse, Ms Jane Ittogi.

Project Reef Alerts is an Overseas Community Service Project that focuses on marine conservation and contributes to SMU’s sustainability efforts.

The sea surrounds Singapore and is fundamental to its existence as an entrepôt port – and its health supports our own lives. Project Reef Alert, active since 2004, is one of SMU’s student-led Overseas Community Service Projects that focuses on marine conservation and is a part of SMU’s commitment to sustainability efforts. It is one of SMU’s community service projects generously supported by donations from Equinix.

The annual SMU Arts Festival is one of the most highly anticipated events in the city's cultural calendar. This year marks a return to live performances after two online editions during Covid-19, and it was a spectacular showcase of the best SMU talents and guest artistes. Themed LOST & FOUND, the festival paid tribute to a platform lost for two years but now found, with a focus on rediscovering the joys of in-person gatherings.

SMU Global Summer Programme 2019.

In July 2019, some 200 students, representing 30 nationalities and 70 universities convened in SMU’s city campus for the annual Global Summer Programme (GSP). Accepting its largest intake since its launch five years ago, GSP comprised 10 credit-bearing courses that drew upon the expertise of faculty from across SMU’s six schools.

SMU students, working with students from Brunei and Australia, were voted the Best Delegation at the 5th ASEAN Foundation Model ASEAN Meeting (AFMAM) in Bangkok In July this year, a team of six SMU undergraduates participated in the 5th ASEAN Foundation Model ASEAN Meeting (AFMAM) held in Bangkok, Thailand.
