Yielding Valuable Insights from Social Media Analytics
The rise of social media in recent years and the pervasive use of various social media platforms have generated a huge amount of data. Analysing these data and gaining insights from the analyses would reap benefits for governments, businesses, and the man-in-the-street.
Social media analytics is one of the areas of research undertaken at the Living Analytics Research Centre, or LARC, which is housed at Singapore Management University (SMU) School of Information Systems (SIS). LARC is a collaboration between SMU and Carnegie Mellon University to conduct research on consumer and social analytics, as well as to develop new applications that would benefit individual consumers, public organisations and private businesses.
In this podcast, Professor Lim Ee Peng from the SMU SIS, who is also the Director of LARC, shares with us the Centre’s work on social media analytics, its benefits, and the Centre’s future plans.
